Whatever happenend to Chris Rock? Ever since Chappelle blew up you never hear about this guy. He is a very good comedian and does very good social commentary too. He never enjoyed the media frenzy and the monetary success that Chappelle did but I guess it's all a timing thing.
But who's better off? Chappelle is looked upon as a nutcase cuz he up and left a successful show and millions of dollars on the table. Rock is doing a sitcom about his life and it's not too bad. I guess you can't hit homeruns all the time with every vehicle he's involved with.
Chris Rock's 'Niggas versus Black People' bit is, in my humble opionion, more controversial than anything Chappelle ever did. I guess I'm just wanting more edgy comedy from good sources.
I made a 9+ hour drive to the state of Michigan to see Chappelle in 2005 when he came back from his siesta in Africa. He talked openly about why he fled & the pressures that were on him because of his TV show and his handlers.
I guess it's serious business doing comedy. I often think that if you make people laugh they will remember you for a long time. I'm very picky when it comes to comedy and I seldom laugh out loud. However these two have put me into fits of hysteria with their acts. My only wish is that they both continue the comedy route and don't pull a Eddie Murphy opting to do kids movies and shitty/sappy comedies.

You forgot to mention the Chris Rock had a talk show/skit show that was a huge hit on Comedy Central, and won all kinds of Emmy's.
He was everybody's everything for at least five years.
The problem is that like everyone else, but especially comedians, they have ONE BIT. That's it. Try as they might they never get past that one thing. Nobody hits twice.
Cosby - family jokes (his early albums were essentially his later show.
Rock - Niggaz and white vs. black jokes
Learhy - Asshole
Black - Angry
Seinfeld - did you ever notice?
Foxworthy - rednecks
Allen - cars and stupid grunts
Farley - Fat idiot slapstick
Sandler - singing, freaking out and stupid baby voices
Carey - Do I even have to say it?
You could go on all day with this. All comedians are one trick ponies and when the trick is old, that is it. Bob Hope told the same jokes (golf and the president) for 50 years and died. Luciel Ball made the same show 3 times and died. Bob Newhart has been successfully doing the same thing since 1967....
So when you think of Chappele remember that in the world of Comedians it truly is "better to burn out than fade away".
