He lost his teeth due to a puck in the mouth and came back later to assist on the winner in last year's playoffs. Now I see him crying big fucking crocodile tears cuz he's leaving Edmonton. What a joke! This guy was the MAN & now he's on the same level as that horse face Nancy Kerrigan crying "WHY?!? WHY!?!"
It has taken my until now to calm down enough to write about this because I am a huge Oilers fan and I love the way that Smyth plays. He's off to the Fucking ISLAND!!! What is he hoping for? A 15 year contract like DiPietro?
This guy was the franchise for the past number of years & especially last year during the Cup run. Who's to blame for him leaving? I gotta say it's Ryan Smyth. If he really wanted to stay in Edmonton, he should have signed the deal that Kevin Lowe offered him. Maybe Kevin should have sweetened the deal & thrown in free ice cream from his family's dairy (if it's still up and running).
This guy is gonna looooooove playing with Yashin who only shows up when he wants to. Edmonton never wanted to give #94 up but Lowe was gonna get fucked at the end of the year when he becomes a free agent and decides to test the market. What team wouldn't jump at the chance for a player of his ilk?
I'm still pissed, however I knew that the Oil didn't have another miracle run in them for this year's playoffs but this move has basically told me they've given up.
And the worst part of all of this is it happens on the day that they retire Messier's #11. Another great homegrown leader.
I hope that he re-signs come July 1st with Edmonton but I don't see that happening.
